In the heart of Palencia’s mountain range, surrounded by an idyllic environment, the new Hotel-Spa La Herrería has recently opened it’s doors . This four stars boutique hotel is the ideal destination both for a short trip or a long stay. It is a dream its owners have finally fulfilled. The first thing that stands out is the singularity of this place. La Herrería took its present shape through the succesful restoration of two medieval buildings, one believed to be the most ancient of the whole area. As link between both buildings, stands a contemporary building designed by Construencanto and characterized by an impressive cover of rusty steel standing right on the spot formerly occupied by old iron-works. The medieval buildings, which preserve the original stone façades, enclose 14 luxury rooms and the two suites. Time stands still in every room thanks to the many dekightful details. La Herrería reveals elegance and powerfully calls the visitor's attention for it’s skilful combination of ancient elements and the most avant-garde decoration designed by a well known interior designer. Even the lighting created by Paolo Giovane design for Construencanto, deserves a separate chapter. The result is an exceptional space and meeting point for the new artistic creations. Periodically, works of sculptors, painters and other artists are exhibited and can be purchased as well as furniture items identical to those designed for the hotel. |

The contemporary building shelters the restaurant, the reading room - with some magnificent views of the landscape - , and the meeting hall for conventions and private events. The kitchen of La Herrería bets on family recipes with certain author touches. Dishes such as deboned pork'feet with poached eggs in puff-pastry or the farm chicken cooked with dried fruits. On the ground floor and opposite to a panoramic large window, a new spa has been built, equipped with swimming pool, water jets, ice fountain, hammam and sauna, among other services. A fantastic leisure plan that is completed with activities such as bicycle riding, horses, quads, 4 wheel drive vehicles, mushroom picking and tourist-historical routes leading to necropolis or country churches, among other many offers. Were are here in what is called the centre of THE ROMANIC art period, whose churches and museums attract many visitors. |
