Welcome to the heart of the most historic and noble village in Cantabria. Declared a national monument in 1899, Santillana del Mar is a stunningly picturesque medieval village situated only 26 km west of Santander. Originally the residence of the first Marquis of Santillana, Don Íñigo López de Mendoza. Today the Casa del Marqués is a charming, luxury five star hotel with an exquisite decoration which helps bring out the best of this historical building crossing the threshold of this hotel, the client will have the sensation of going back to medieval times but with all the modern commodities. The house is a splendid gothic building which dates from the 15th Century. The main entrance has a gothic arch and two large wooden doors with ironwork which is worth noting. |
